Owls Give Thanks in Chapel

Robert J. Hussey, Sr. Chair of Religion Clay Smythe ’85 led the annual Thanksgiving Chapel November 21, by reading from the “1928 Book of Common Prayer.” Max Williams ’24 then read Deuteronomy 8:7-18; Instructor in Religion Elliott Dent, Psalm 65; and Tucker Davis ’25, 2 Corinthians 9:6-15.
Dannie Dong ’24 on piano and Joel Lim ’24 on oboe performed “We Gather Together,” assisted by Music Director Chris Piecuch. Finally, Baseball Head Coach John Jarnagin shared Luke 17:11-19, about the 10 lepers Jesus cleansed of their disease and the one man, a Samaritan, who came back to thank him. Jarnagin spoke about God’s grace and mercy evident throughout his lifetime. “My life was filled with people who guided me, helped me, taught me to do things. I am receiving blessings now from the efforts of others long ago. … Thanksgiving is a time to be intentional with gratitude, thanking the many who have touched us.”
