Owls Flourish at Robotics

The MUS robotics program hosted its inaugural VEX Robotics Competition in Todd-Snowden Gym February 10, welcoming 28 teams comprising middle and high school students from across West Tennessee.
The Owls showcased their prowess on their home turf with three out of four teams making it to the semifinals during the elimination rounds. The 99331M team of freshmen Advay Adapa, Joshua Dong, Ike Emmert, Chase Frazer, and Walker Shirley, competed in the final competition while clinching the Robot Skills Champion Award and the High School Excellence Award. This is the second time they have earned these awards this season.

The 99331W team of eighth graders Emery Taylor and Joseph Zhao and seventh graders Colton Henry, Mohid Salman, and Mac Wilson made it to the semifinals, only losing to their older classmates. They also secured the elusive Middle School Excellence Award, a distinction that remained unclaimed at the past three West Tennessee events because the judges determined that the team notebooks did not meet the criteria for excellence. However, Team 99331W's dedication and perseverance paid off as they diligently improved their notebook and captured the honor.

Both these teams qualified for the state tournament March 1-2 at Brentwood Academy.
