Musicians Shine in Senior Recital

Talented musicians from the Class of 2024 performed in the inaugural senior recital April 21 in Hyde Chapel. The concert featured solo performances by Joel Lim on oboe, Dannie Dong on piano, and Gabe Chen on violin.
“I’ve taught a few seasons, and this concert highlighted some of the brightest talents I’ve come across,” Director of Music Chris Piecuch said.

Aubade, the trio that recently won the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Solo and Ensemble Competition, also performed. The ensemble includes seniors Alan Zhou on flute, Lim on oboe, and Eshaan Patnaik on clarinet. As Patnaik was out of town, Ms. Chelsea Negray, music teacher at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, was guest clarinetist.

Chen’s performance also featured the Chamber Orchestra: Evan Wu ’24 on viola; Michael Liu ’25, Bill Chiang ’26, Will Brezina ’26, Henry Phan ’26 on violin; Liam McCarver ’26, Jenson Bridge ’29, Soren Johnson ’27 on cello; Henry Sproles ’27 on bass; and Dong on harpsichord.

Along with Mr. Piecuch, Music Instructor Bryan Scott directs the instrumental music program.
