Liebenow Discusses His Faith
Watts Liebenow ’26 guided fellow students through his faith journey from the Hyde Chapel stage January 29.
Liebenow described his lack of faith during a period of personal struggle. A late-night moment of clarity where he “encountered God” pushed him toward belief and changed his life. “I cannot explain to you how God has impacted my life. He has helped me in so many ways. He gave me the power to help people and spread his word.”
Daily devotionals play a large role in Liebenow’s faith. He shared several Bible verses – Proverbs 3:5-6, Genesis 1:26-28, and Genesis 9:2 – that have taught him about “believing in something without proof” and being reborn after finding God.
“I chose to do this speech because we followers have been chosen to spread the Gospel as well as our stories so we can help more and more people, just as it did me,” Liebenow said. “Now this is where I am, learning and growing. So, if you have been lost at all, this is your sign to start your never-ending marathon and to grow your relationship with God.”
