Mock Trial Team Prevails

For the first time in 17 years, the Mock Trial team won the District Championship, overcoming a St. Mary’s squad that had won four seasons in a row.
Mock Trial, in which students take on the roles of the prosecution and defense in trying fictional cases, is designed to promote an understanding and appreciation of the American judicial system.

Thank you to attorney Jason Hood and to faculty advisors Dr. Jonathan Jones and Jason Peters ’88 for the countless hours of hard work that went into preparing this team for the competition.

“The judge presiding over the competition talked about our boys as being the most prepared she’s ever seen and commented their cross examination was outstanding,” Upper School Head Zach Hanson said. “They did a great job.”

The win qualifies the Owls for the 2025 Tennessee High School Mock Trial Competition in Nashville, March 21 and 22. A win there would propel them to the National High School Mock Trial Competition in Phoenix, Arizona, May 8-10.
