McCallie Recap

The host Blue Tornado scored on three of its first four possessions to build a solid lead and cruise to the non-divisional win.

McCallie quarterback Elliott Drapeau threw four first-half touchdown passes to four different receivers as the hosts built a 27-0 halftime lead. His scoring passes covered 21 yards, 35 yards, 22 yards, and 27 yards as they took control of the game.

The Owls had their chances and moved the ball at times in the first half. Despite struggling to run the football, QB Brady Hughes found some success through the air, mainly to Kyle Sneed. Hughes hit Sneed for passes of 33 yards, 21 yards, and 10 yards, all which gave the Owls first downs. MUS also had three drives end in McCallie territory in the first half, but none resulted in scores.

McCallie scored on its first possession of the second half to go up, 34-0, and get the running clock. On its next possession, MUS moved again into Blue Tornado territory, but penalties hurt the Owls, and the drive ended with a turnover.

McCallie kicked a field goal to go up, 37-0, early in the fourth quarter, but the Owls did not quit, and finally, Hughes found Sneed one more time, this time behind the Blue Tornado defense for a 55-yard touchdown. Joshua Wittber connected on the PAT, ending the scoring at 37-7.

With the win, McCallie extends their lead in the series to 8-6.
