Campbell Named Golf Coach
Memphis University School Athletic Director Thad McCracken announced the appointment of Mr. Chip Campbell ’99 as the school’s varsity golf coach. He assumes the role immediately, following the retirement of
Coach Cliff Frisby this winter.
"I couldn't be happier for Coach Campbell, our golfers, and our MUS community,” McCracken said. “His prowess as a golfer is well known, and any time you can hire an alumnus, it provides the opportunity to build quickly upon the school's tradition and existing culture. We have full confidence that Chip is the man to further advance the golf program. We are excited to watch his vision come to fruition."
Campbell was a member of the Owls’ 1996 state championship and 1998 state runner-up teams. After MUS he played college golf at Washington and Lee, where he was ranked as the No. 52 golfer in the country as a junior.
Campbell serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Premier Storage Investors, a role he has held since 2014. He has served as a director for the Western Golf Association since 2022. In 2024 he was president of Carnival Memphis – an organization devoted to supporting local children’s charities and promoting local businesses and industries – and he continues to serve on the Executive Committee.
“I’m honored for the opportunity to return to MUS and lead the golf program,” Campbell said. “MUS has always been a special place to me, and I look forward to working with the players to build on the success that the program has had over the years.”
