27 Owls Earn All-West Honors

Twenty-seven musicians earned chairs in All-West Tennessee Bands and Orchestras, and three received alternate status. In addition, five students qualified for All-State honors with three others reaching All-State alternate status.
The West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, an affiliate of the National Association for Music Education, hosted auditions for bands January 18 and orchestras November 23, with over 2,400 students participating. During the weekend of February 13-15, students who received All-West honors will attend a clinic at Memphis’s Renasant Convention Center and perform in a concert at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts.

“Congratulations to all of the MUS student musicians who auditioned for the All-West Tennessee Bands and Orchestras,” Music Director Chris Piecuch said. “They had to prepare very difficult musical excerpts and scales and sightread in front of a judge who is a professional musician and or teacher. Reaching for this goal is making these students better musicians and making our instrumental music programs stronger. Mr. Bryan Scott and I really appreciate their efforts.”
