  • Bartlett Recap

The 7th grade Owls won a hard fought battle against a talented JV squad from Bartlett earning a 14 to 8 victory.

The Owls forced an early turnover when Fort Gusmus caused a fumble we believe was recovered by Colin McCabe. From there the team made a big play on a nice scramble by Harris Laughlin and then him pulling up and find Wallace Bradshaw for a nice gain. Then shortly thereafter Bradshaw hit a nice hole off right tackle and then hit the sideline refusing to be tackled getting the team a TD on a wonderful 41 yard run. McCabe went off left tackle for the 2 point conversion.

Bartlett roared back with some excellent runs by their star tailback and tied the score before the half. The second half saw the Owls tighten up their tackling and after producing a 4th down Bartlett punt which got blocked the team had a very short field and got the go ahead score on a 4 yard run by Dante Stutts. The 2 point try failed. The Owls had another scoring opportunity late but Bartlett created a turnover and began a march to try and win the game late. They got down to the 20 but a ferocious 3rd down tackle by Stutts forced Bartlett to the air on 4th down and the pass was defended well by Jaden Siggers and Fort Gusmus.

The 7th graders return to action next Thursday at Briarcrest playing the Briarcrest JV squad composed of 7th and 8th graders. Game time is 5:30.
  • BCS Recap

    Derek Clenin
Our team battled hard against a talented Briarcrest team to capture the win 22-14. MUS offense established the run game early and jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Briarcrest rattled off 2 big plays to tie the game at halftime 14-14. Multiple big plays in the second half contributed to the Owls victory. On fourth down with less than 2 minutes left in the game, Harris Laughlin hit Mac Alexander in the endzone to take the lead 22-14. On the ensuing play, Briarcrest broke loose on a WR screen and was headed into the endzone until Fort Gusmus hawked him down for a game saving tackle on the 10 yard line. A couple plays later, Kristian Rooks sealed the victory by sacking the QB and forcing a fumble that was recovered by the Owls. Coaching staff couldn’t be more proud of the boys resilience and fortitude throughout the game to move to 3-0 on the season.

Thanks to Coach Clenin for recap!
  • Collierville Recap

The 7th grade Owls moved to 4-0 on the season with a hard fought 6-0 win over Collierville. The Owls moved crisply down the field on their opening drive which was capped by a 25 yard TD pass from Harris Laughlin to Mac Alexander. It was an awesome play and great effort by Alexander to get in the endzone. After that both teams displayed stingy defenses.

Next week the team travels to Houston for a 5:30 kick-off. Both teams are undefeated.
